Product Development Engineer
The Product Development Engineer will be involved in various aspects of hardware & software development, from prototyping and redesign to manufacturing support and quality control. In this role, the Product Development Engineer will work collaboratively with a small, but dynamic team of engineering professionals. This is a full-time, in person position, located at our offices in Carlisle, PA.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise in product development; lead and/or participate in the design and development of new products.
- Develop/Debug test firmware for product prototypes.
- Assist with researching and sourcing compatible components when Z-Band is notified of long lead time/ EOL components.
- Use modern CAD tools to develop electronic circuit designs in support of RF systems for new products and test prototypes - generating schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, extract Gerber files and bill of materials.
- Research and keep abreast of industry standards and best practices in CATV and broadband distribution systems, along with electronic circuit design.
- Generate documentation including test reports, drawings, specifications, test procedures, user manuals and other technical items.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems.
- Provided technical leadership & training of internal sales team, field representatives, manufacturing partners and other partners on Z-Band products as well as competitive products integrated within a Z-Band ecosystem.
- Collaborate with the Director of Engineering/Senior Management to develop multi-year, technological roadmaps.
- Assist in general lab set-up, organization and maintenance.
- Adheres to all Company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.

Essential Skills & Experience:
- Associate’s degree (or higher) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, strong work experience or suitable combination.
- Familiar with embedded C, C++, Python and JSON.
- Experience with various CAD software packages, specifically OrCAD, Fusion360 and AutoCAD is strongly preferred. Experience with Zuken, Altium, Mentor-Graphics Pads is definitely a plus.
- Knowledge of RF test equipment such as Spectrum & Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and Field Test Meters would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Basic CATV/DOCSIS principles is advantageous.
- Capable of carrying on a professional conversation with vendors, partners and customers.
- Strong capacity for understanding diverse technical areas, communication proficiency, problem solving/analysis and the ability to collaborate as a member of a team.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be able to lift 25lbs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- 3 years experience with embedded systems (preferred)
